Clinical Studies

Findings from clinical trials decisively determine the development of innovative therapies and the future of cancer care. The roadmap for progress in oncology strongly depends on these results finding their way into clinical practice via medical guidelines. The development of medical guidelines, on the other hand, provides a way to evaluate clinical studies according to the rules of evidence-based medicine and to explore knowledge gaps. Thus, clinical research and medical guidelines are inextricably linked.

The German Cancer Society pursues a broad range of activities in this field: our working groups plan and conduct clinical trials; studies that follow GMP rules can be awarded with a dedicated quality label; moreover, we publish scientific opinions on a regular basis.
