The German Cancer Society supports various projects and activities in the field of cancer prevention and cancer screening.
Our latest campaign "Keep the ball rolling - Exercise lowers your risk of cancer" is a joint project with soccer player Lukas Podolski, the German Football Association (DFB), and the German Cancer Aid to improve physical fitness among children and adolescents. Another project supported by the German Cancer Society is the campaign "5 a day" that was set up to encourage the consumption of at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each day, following a recommendation by the World Health Organization. The project "SunPass – Healthy sun fun for kids " organized by the European Skin Cancer Foundation ESCF honours kindergartens for their efforts to encourage sun protection and is actively implemented by regional cancer societies.
As a member of the German Non-Smoking Alliance, the German Cancer Society supports the reduction of tobacco use; as part of the Alliance for UV Protection we warn people about the harmful effects of UV exposure and actively support the prevention of skin cancer.
