European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC)

As a follow up to the Joint Action CraNE (2022-2024), which ended in September 2024, the Joint Action “European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres”(EUnetCCC) was launched in October 2024. The aim of the European network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCC) is to connect CCC structures across Europe in order to provide all patients with access to high-quality research and care structures. Through sharing best practices, resources and research results the research and care structures shall be established and improved in all Member States.

The German Cancer Society (DKG) is leading Work Package 9 with the title “Support the implementation of Comprehensive Cancer Care Networks (CCCNs) to ensure comprehensive, high-quality cancer care for all patients” and is involved in Work Package 8 “Development and implementation of Network Activities”.

Work Package 9 is coordinated by the DKG’s “European and International Affairs Unit” in collaboration with the Polish National Institute of Public Health National Institute of Hygiene-National Research Institute (NIZP PZH-PIB). It will further develop the tumour-specific Comprehensive Cancer Care Network (CCCN) approach, which is based on the DKG’s Organ Cancer Centre model. Together with the project partners, this approach will be implement in 14 pilot networks in 9 countries. The work in Work Package 9 builds on the results of Joint Action iPAAC and Joint Action CraNE.

Work Package 8, coordinated by Oslo University Hospital in Norway, the Karolinska CCC in Sweden and the Oncology Institute “Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuţă” Cluj-Napoca in Romania, addresses the development and implementation of network activities in and between CCCs. The DKG department „Health Services Research“ address the topics of primary and secondary prevention, secondary data utilization and cancer survivorship.
