Welcome to the German Cancer Society.
We are the largest scientific society focusing on cancer in the German-speaking world.

The German Cancer Society is based in Berlin. It currently has around 8,300 members. The society also includes

  • 25 working groups,
  • 16 regional cancer societies and
  • 3 sponsors.

We work with all experts involved in cancer care. They include doctors, nurses and staff working in mental health and social services.

We focus on cancer care that is based on scientific medical findings and involves different medical fields. Our goal is to make sure that people with cancer receive the best possible care. We are committed to this every day.

These are our main tasks:

  • Confirming and certifying the quality of cancer care centres
  • Creating our own guidelines for treatment and patient care based on scientific findings
  • Learning and sharing knowledge about cancer
  • Speaking on behalf of our members about healthcare issues and in public discussions

Are you an expert in your field? Would you like to become a member? Would you like to get involved in a working group? If you want to know more about becoming a member, click here.

Please note:
As a specialised scientific society, we cannot answer personal medical or legal questions from patients. If you need help, please contact the advisory service at your state cancer society or the INFONETZ team at Deutsche Krebshilfe (German Cancer Aid).
